WCYB stays on TVS Cable for now
Last month, I mentioned the retransmission consent conflict between Tri-Cities NBC affiliate WCYB and Hindman, Kentucky-based TVS Cable. The conflict was over a carriage fee in order for TVS Cable, which serves several Eastern Kentucky counties, to continue to carry WCYB. In a message included with the latest billing statement, TVS Cable said the following:
"A 30 day extension through January has been extended for Channel 5 (WCYB) to stay on the system. We will notify you as to whether it will remain on after January."
I hope a long-term agreement is reached. WCYB is a legendary station in the Mountain Empire and Tri-Cities regions and is very dominant in the Nielsen ratings. I will post updates as necessary.
