The $700 billion bailout proposal is dead. The US House rejected the monster legislation 228-205. It is clear that the people have spoken: We do not want to pay for the sins of fat cat CEOs by nationalizing our financial system.

UPDATE at 3:17pm ET: Here is how Kentucky's Congressmen voted (h/t Michelle Malkin):

Ed Whitfield (1st District): Nay
Ron Lewis (2nd): Yea
John Yarmuth (3rd): Nay
Geoff Davis (4th): Nay
Hal Rogers (5th): Yea
Ben Chandler (6th): Nay
