BREAKING: Mine Blowout in Pike County

WYMT is reporting that there has been a mine blowout in the Kimper-Grapevine area in eastern Pike County. Highway 194 has been blocked due to rock, water and debris covering the road. The blowout may be affecting a home in the area. More details soon.

UPDATE at 9:55pm: Highway 194 remains closed until further notice.

UPDATE at 10:12pm: While water continues to run from the mine, it is beginning to recede.

UPDATE at 10:40pm: WSAZ reports that the blowout occured at an abandoned mine which had three portals. One blew and the other two were leaking. Click here for more.

UPDATE on Saturday at 8:42am ET: The 50 people that were forced out of their homes due to the blowout have been allowed back into their homes. You can watch WYMT's report from the scene here.

UPDATE at 6:07pm: Highway 194 has been reopened.
